Guided excursions

Agnello Mount geotrail

Every Monday, from 4th July to 29th August, with departure at 9:30am from Rifugio Monte Agnello, which can be reached from Pampeago with the Agnello chair lift.

Spectacular geological circular itinerary to the discovery of the ancient Predazzo volcano, guided by an expert geologist and Mountain Guide. A path along volcanic rocks of the Agnello Mount, produced 238 million years ago by the eruptions which redesigned the Latemar atoll and the tropical sea sorrounding it. Like in a Triassic-era Pompeii, lava, cinder, and lapilli buried everything along their path. The amazing fossils of plants discovered in the rocks of the Agnello Mount witnessed that catastrophe, and they are now on display at the Geological Museum of the Dolomites of Predazzo.

From the Agnello chair lift landing, you will quickly reach the hamlet of La Porta, which is a naturalistic marvel, and then you will proceed along a comfortable path up to the Valbona mountain cottage. If you follow the ridge of the Agnello Mount, you can reach its peak (2,358 meters), and enjoy a 360° view of Marmolada, Pale di San Martino, Lagorai, Brenta and Adamello-Presanella Mountain Group, or you can proceed towards the hamlet of Tresca and then go back to the chair lift. If you climb up to the peak, you will descend back to your departure point following the peak ridge which can be easily hiked. Minimum age 8 years.

This is a simple path, with easy hiking trails, and a difference in altitude of about 350 meters.
