In Obereggen, Pampeago, and Predazzo, children under eight years of age ride free of charge.
Spectacular views and breathtaking vistas of numerous alpine peaks make this panorama platform at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea-level a unique experience. The panoramic map depicts the largest and most-important summits and mountain groups of the Central Alps in exactly the direction you can see them. This makes it easy to find and identify the individual summits. The platform is made of larch wood and has the shape of an ammonite (of which fossils are frequently found in the Latemar).
If you are audacious enough to conquer these majestic peaks, you'll be rewarded with a fabulous view extending all the way to the famous Marmolada.
The tour to the idyllic Latemar Hut (at an altitude of 2,671 meters above sea-level) is a special experience. This mountain climb is medium-difficult, and will take you along breathtaking cliffs and bizarre geological formations.
A total of eight alpine huts and refuges offer a range of culinary treats. After an enjoyable climb on the Latemar Massif or an easy stroll along the verdant alpine meadows, you'll be in the mood for a hearty refreshment. Latemarium ice cream desserts (Platzl Mountain Lounge), South Tyrolean apple strudel and homemade pies (Mayrl Alm), South Tyrolean poppyseed and jelly-filled pastries (Zischg Alm), South Tyrolean apricot and plump dumplings (Ganischger Alm), strudel symphony (Baita Feudo), dolce baita – dessert variation (Baita Gardoné), South Tyrolean "Kaiserschmarrn" (Weigler Schupf), and South Tyrolean fritters (Epircher Laner Alm).

One new feature this summer is the Oberholz alpine hut at an altitude of 2,096 meters above sea-level, and in the heart of the UNESCO World Nature Heritage Site of the Dolomites. The contemporary architecture features large panoramic windows focusing on the magnificent alpine world, and offers visitors a cozy place to relax. The hut features three parlors and a sunny panoramic terrace at the foot of the Latemar Massif. At the hut, the emphasis is on "enjoyment." The bar and restaurant are open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from June 24 till October 08, 2017. From Obereggen, the hut can be easily reached with the Panorama Chairlift or, by foot, via Trails No. 9 and No. 18. The hut can also be reached from Pampeago and Predazzo by taking a lift and then continuing via Trail No. 22.
Another new attraction in the summer of 2017 is the Latemar Hut / Rif. Torre di Pisa. Hikers looking for challenging trails and advanced hikers will love it. At 2,671 meters above sea-level, it can be reached by taking one of the most-beautiful hiking trails in the Dolomites. The hut has been completely renovated and expanded. The restaurant and bar have been modernized. But also the dormitory (with 38 beds) has been partitioned into four comfortable bedrooms and supplemented with a bathroom.
Another new attraction in the Eggen Valley in the summer of 2017: Six viewing platforms affording views of the UNESCO World Nature Heritage Site of the Dolomites. The Eggen Valley Mountain Cinema consists of six panoramic viewing platforms in Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente, Obereggen, Steinegg / Collepietra, and Welschnofen / Nova Levante – Lake Karer. The panoramic viewing points are located along the hiking trails, and serve as rest-stops where visitors can pause and admire the stunning vistas – including the unique alpine panorama of the UNESCO World Nature Heritage Site. The benches and picture frames are reminiscent of movie theatre screens, and visitors can sit and enjoy the legendary view of the Eggen Valley. Additionally, each viewing point is also equipped with a panorama panel identifying the most-important features. In Obereggen, the new Mountain Cinema is located – unsurprisingly – along a segment of the latemar.panorama thematic trail.
Among the highlights at the Latemarium is the "Eye to the Dolomites," which was installed last summer at the Reiterjoch, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea-level. It is an oversized human eyeball which is big enough to allow visitors inside. It is a work of art (designed by Harry Thaler) as well as innovative exhibit on the topic of the Latemar, the Dolomites, and UNESCO. It's a real looker – which you can also walk through and look out of!
The latemar.alp Trail was expanded with a life-size wooden horse and two additional stations on the history of hay-harvesting and on forestry. Further, there's a rugged prominence with a hole into which you can stick your head. By humming quietly, you'll hear a magnified roar in the stone – so you'll be in the right mood to continue on to the "Dos Capèl" geological trail which starts there.
Not far from the geological trail, there's a new thematic trail – the latemar.meteo, at Monte Agnello. This trail – inaugurated in the summer of 2016 - is dedicated to the topics of meteorology and geodynamics. The latemar.meteo trail features interactive stations where you can delve into the heart of matters and learn more about these topics. Along the way, the marmot Marmottix will provide you with a lot of interesting details – e.g., how the sun affects the weather; how noisy, extreme, and spectacular the forces of Nature can be; how thunderstorms, avalanches, and lightening can be just as spectacular as they are dangerous; and much more.
